Orff Schulwerk

Carl Orff (1895-1982) was a German composer, conductor and educator, who created an inspiring approach to music education. Orff Schulwerk is listed as one of the four major music methodologies in the 20th century with Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Kodály Method and Suzuki Method.

Orff Schulwerk, or simply Orff Approach, inspires children to enter the world of music by stimulating their creative imagination and developing potential musicality. Orff has strong interest in music since childhood, as well as other art forms. Therefore, he combines music, dance, drama, literature, visual arts etc, and so he created the influential pedagogical method. He advocates the children to learn from their daily experiences, through children’s songs, rhymes, movement, singing, dancing, ensemble, improvisation and etc, to let them to "learn by doing", to explore and create music.

The method is built on a person’s natural talent. As long as you can sing, speak, clap and share, then you can enjoy the happiness that music brings!
